fade in, slowly: the camera already moving, skimming over pavement. a newspaper blows past. headline: HEATWAVE STRIKES GOTHAM #catmovie
the camera follows the paper across a road; up a kerb; to a flight of granite stairs. arched over them: GOTHAM CITY MUSEUM OF ART #catmovie
we swoop up the stairs, past the doormen - invitation only - thru the doors at waist height, into a crowd of partygoers in costume#catmovie
revellers fill the galleries: champagne splashes on the rodins, cigar smoke blackens the faces of the vermeers. laughter, shrieks #catmovie
the camera spins thru the party - a gala of some sort - and a few of the pretty girls and satisfied men glance down at it, remote #catmovie
lots of carefully ripped fishnets & exposed garter belts; unbuttoned collars & bowties pulled aside. mascara and cocaine. #catmovie
but in the middle of it all, in the eye of the hurricane of glitter and sleaze… #catmovie
she’s wearing a gown of dark violet silk - a high necked, long sleeved cheongsam. covered from throat to ankle, she is STUNNING #catmovie
the band, a string quartet, are playing an uptempo version of SHE’S LOST CONTROL, but over it: the chimes of midnight #catmovie
her short dark hair is neatly coiffed, and there is but a single mark on her pale skin; a mole on the right cheekbone #catmovie
our girl turns and slips thru the crowd; we follow. up the stairs, thru a series of ever darker galleries. the music fades away #catmovie
a set of closed doors; she runs silk-gloved fingers over them and they spring open. wouldn’t you? she hesitates at the threshold: #catmovie
framed in the doorway she reaches for the fastening of her dress. it cascades down, revealing an expanse of smooth BLACK LEATHER?? #catmovie
she steps out of the pooled silk, skips into the darkness. closeup: a black-gloved hand drops the needle on a record player. #catmovie
the record spinning, seen from above: “HEROES” by DAVID BOWIE. she dances to it between lit cases, prances over security lasers #catmovie
low angle, closeup, from inside an exhibit case: she’s wearing a pointed-ear mask & orange cats-eye goggles, but you see her SMILE #catmovie
the reverse shot, her POV: a pearl-&-diamond necklace surrounding a circle of seven teardrop diamonds; her claws glitter over them #catmovie
closeup - an alarm bell:
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNGGG! #catmovie
cut: she’s clawing out of an air vent, necklace around her wrist; helter skelter across a roof, skipping from chimney to chimney #catmovie
the soundtrack hammers, alarm bells add to the maelstrom. torches flicker in the gallery. she races across the rooftop, UNTIL: #catmovie
a PRECIPICE: guard dogs bark, far below, and she shrinks back, hissing. then she LEAPS and she’s off & running on the next roof #catmovie
there’s shouting; guards have reached the roof of the museum, but she’s gone - the camera tilts up, up & away, to another place… #catmovie
CATWOMAN, still moving, but slowly now, a relaxed lope. sirens sound somewhere across the city. she steps into the dark and: SLIPS #catmovie
skiiing down tiles, arms windmilling, necklace flashes. eyes: orange, panic. a gutter breaks, & she’s GONE. alley cats yowl, below #catmovie
a police cruiser screeches to a halt at the mouth of an alley; mangy cats dash out of it, scrabbling under & over the hood. #catmovie
red & blue lights fight. 2 cops pull her from a dumpster, torches in her face. in position against the cruiser, hands & feet apart #catmovie
“nice collar” says one of them, holdings up the necklace. “bad kitty” says the other. she groans & they cuff her. #catmovie
in the cruiser: in the front, the cops are silhouettes; in the back, behind the mesh, lights play across her face as they drive #catmovie
“this MUST mean a promotion” says one cop. she rolls her eyes. “you boys must get awful hot in those uniforms”, she tries, purring #catmovie
one of the cops glances back, then faces front. “lean close and i’ll tell you a secret” she says. he hesitates, then turns… #catmovie
we see: her lips, as she leans forward. we see: his ear against the mesh. we see: his partner’s eyes flick away from the road. #catmovie
we see: the cop car, swerving. we see: a CRASH. flames. cut to: BLUE and RED lights strobe against another alley wall. #catmovie
she slips into shot against the brick; gunfire coming from the wreck of the cruiser. “sorry boys, you’re out of luck…” #catmovie
her goggles are cracked, but the handcuffs are off, clipped to her belt, bouncing on her hip as she shimmies up a fire ladder. #catmovie
the camera whirls up and away again. another lonely night in the city. art deco spires, gothic expressways, leering billboards #catmovie
a construction site, the high steel deserted in the night. CATWOMAN is there, sitting on a girder, swinging her heels. no necklace #catmovie
something slinks to her side along the girder: an alley cat. & another, & another… they mew, and she strokes an arched back idly #catmovie
closeup: a cat drops something from it’s mouth. it sparkles. another cat, another sparkle. then another, & another. seven in all. #catmovie
she flicks her head back, laughing; tosses the diamonds into the air, glittering by the light of the burning city. we fade out. #catmovie
CATWOMAN: THE MOVIE. coming soon. #catmovie
